The would-be heroes of Steel & Shadow begin their adventuring careers as a zeroth-level character: a Tenderfoot. Only after surviving their initial forays into twisted woods and menacing dungeons can they call themselves Adventurers.

Starting Health : Constitution ability score
Starting Wits : Wisdom ability score x 5

Class Skills : Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Perception (Wis), Profession (Wis), Rise (Dex), and Swim (Str), plus any granted by your Traits or Background.
Starting Skill Ranks : 4 + Intelligence modifier

Advancement Points : 20

Feat Access : Tenderfeet can access the modest melee weapon, modest ranged weapon, light armor, medium armor and light shields groups.

Note: Those zeroes aren’t typos. The tenderfoot is truly a novice when compared to a seasoned hero, but is still a cut above the common folk. Her abilities will vastly exceed those of commoners when AP are spent on raising ability scores and adding proficiencies, bonuses and capabilities.
